What We've Been Up To

Wanderer Festival: Sustainability Success

Perfect weather, incredible musicians, and picturesque scenery-- what more could anyone ask for from this year’s Wanderer Festival? A memorable event based in the coastal town of Pambula, NSW, B-Alternative was honoured to tackle the incorporation of a reusable crockery system, keeping in line with the event’s myriad of sustainability initiatives. Across 4 days, 18,000 single-use items were avoided and over 3,600 oyster shells were diverted from landfills through the Ocean2Earth initiative.

Energy Breakthrough: Giving A 'Green Light'

Energy Breakthrough sees thousands of students, teachers, parents, and volunteers come together to marvel at the ingenuity and innovation of technology used to build racecars. All grade levels participate and camp out for the duration of the 4-day event. EB utilized a variety of services offered by BA, including resource recovery, reusable crockery, and campground education. In the lead-up to and throughout the event, a major emphasis on zero-waste practices saw a significant impact on the amount of waste produced, giving this event the sustainability ‘green light’!

The Rewash Revolution: Strawberry Fields

Held on the beautiful, sprawling lands of Tocumwal, NSW, Strawberry Fields is a legendary festival known well for its dedication to leaving no trace and incorporating numerous eco-conscious initiatives. By using a loadable wristband and charging a refundable fee for each use of a reusable crockery dish, B-Alternative washed 46,903 dishes for 15,000 patrons thanks to our collaborative efforts with SF’s Rewash Revolution System.

Lost Paradise Festival: Campground Education

B-Alternative will be heading to New South Wales this New Year’s to provide campground education and ground cleanup at the Lost Paradise Festival. Over 10,000 people attend this event annually, and event organizers understand the importance of passing on the message to Leave No Trace with their Paradisian Pledge:

“I will ensure our slice of Paradise remains safe, green, and clean. I will actively respect myself, others, and the land upon which we celebrate.”

PIZZycle Lands on AU Soil

Did you know that once pizza boxes have grease or food on them, they can’t be recycled? That’s where PIZZycle comes in. Founded in Germany, this company saw the need to reduce cardboard waste and created a reusable pizza box--up to 500 uses for a single box. B-Alternative shared in this vision, and is now a proud supplier in Australia! Dozens of festivals and events have seen their impact on eliminating packaging waste.
