Shuck Don't Chuck: Shell Recycling Service

Ever wonder where your seashells end up after eating a delicious meal? Usually, they go straight to landfill. but The Nature Conservancy Australia strives to change this trend. B-Alternative operates in Victoria as a partner to help collect mussel, oyster, and clam shells from restaurant venues and events to cure them and replant them for regeneration projects in the Port Phillip Bay reefs. We have saved over 17,000kgs of shells to date (2024).

Annual Regen Again Trip

Regen Again is  run in the lush landscapes of Queensland. This unique trip offers participants the opportunity to engage directly with reforestation projects, wildlife conservation, and sustainable farming practices. Through hands-on activities and expert-led workshops, Regen Again aims to educate and inspire individuals about the importance of ecological restoration and sustainable living. Participants leave with a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship and a renewed commitment to preserving our planet's precious ecosystems. BA participates annually to help plant trees in the Daintree Rainforest with Rainforest Rescue.

Beach Cleanups: Parley Collaboration

Partnering with Parley for the Oceans, these cleanups focus on removing debris from Queensland's pristine beaches while raising awareness about the impact of plastic waste on marine life and coastal ecosystems. Volunteers participate in organized cleanups, gathering plastic waste and other pollutants that threaten the natural beauty and biodiversity of the region. These efforts not only help restore the beaches but also foster a sense of collective responsibility and environmental activism, empowering participants to take proactive steps towards a plastic-free future.

Our
Projects

Regeneration is one of our core pillars, that's why we work with various partners to give back to our communities and the Earth through our collaborative work. We strive to help restore depleted natural resources, through shell recycling, native tree planting, and beach cleanups.
